Understanding Trauma

from the Bottom UP.

A Somatic Approach to Trauma

A Live 3-Hour Workshop for allied health professionals (therapists, alternative medicine practitioners, yoga teachers, life coaches, massage therapists) as well as anyone who wants to understand trauma.

In the last twenty years there have been massive shifts in understanding and defining trauma and its symptoms. Pivotal to this research is the understanding that trauma is not “just in the head”, but rather, stored in the body. This ‘body memory’ is a physiological response to an overwhelming event. As such, understanding the nervous system and how it works is essential for anyone who has experienced trauma and wants to work through it, as well as any practitioners working with people who have experienced trauma. By looking at stress physiology, brain anatomy, and neuroscience in an easy to understand way, this two-hour workshop de-mystifies what creates the traumatic response from a somatic perspective, and offers useful techniques within the yogic sciences, somatic psychotherapy, and art therapy on how to respond when triggered yourself or when working with someone who is. This course is very useful for therapists/teachers to be able to better understand the clients they work with, as well as people currently in therapy who have experienced trauma.

A 20 page manual is included with the workshop.
